About Tessa - Owner/Designer of Alchemy

My love of design and running my own business started young….

When I was 8 years old, I started a baking business, I personally called every single radio station, flower shop, insurance company, hair salon, and real estate agent I could find to sell my homemade desserts. The highlight to my 8-year-old self was coming up with a slogan, “never a crumby cookie” is what I went with, but my sense of dad joke level humor stays with me to this day (sorry)

I’ve always valued education and learning, but never felt the need to go to college. I graduated high school when I turned 14, and haven’t stopped learning since. Growing up and now my parents own a Victorian Lampshade Company, so I’ve been making lampshades since I was a teenager and worked with many designers - seeing our shades in Paris hotels, NYC restaurants, and even Disney World shops were always exciting projects to watch unfold (If you’ve seen Disney’s Haunted Mansion movie - you’ve seen shades that I made!).

At 23 my husband and I bought our first home in South Carolina, built in 1960 it needed a total renovation, and renovate we did. From adding an extra bedroom, to gutting the entire home from floor to ceiling, I learned a lot about the technical aspects of renovating. Growing up with parents who always bought fixer uppers, it was something I just planned to do because I always loved it. Ever since I was a kid I would walk into rooms and completely redesign them in my head, even to the smallest details.

Fast forward to 2021, I was searching online and came across an RV for sale. I love working with small spaces that seem hopeless and turning them into something jaw dropping - and even though I had zero experience renovating a travel trailer - I went for it! Six months later, I listed it for sale and it sold within 24 hours with a line of other buyers. The details are what I have a passion for. I had something here I wanted to keep up. My husband quit his job so he could be a stay-at-home dad with our two kids, while I pursued this new designing milestone.

My goal is to create luxury tiny homes that are unique & inviting, beautiful & practical down to every little detail.

When I was little, I used to say “If men could go to the moon, this stuff on earth is cake” - Nothing is impossible, sometimes it just needs a new floor plan ;)
